Merida Silex Gravel Bike – Second Generation
Experience top-tier performance with a high-quality aluminium frame, renowned Shimano GRX400 2x10 groupset, and powerful hydraulic disc brakes.
Introducing the second generation of the Merida Silex Gravel Bike, a major upgrade from its highly acclaimed predecessor. Unlike traditional road or cyclocross bikes adapted for gravel, the original Silex was built from the ground up with modern MTB-inspired geometry. This design featured long top and head tubes paired with a short stem for exceptional off-road handling and stability. Praised for its comfort and versatility, the original Silex set a new standard in gravel biking.
MTB-Inspired Geometry: Offers nimble handling and confidence-inspiring control on off-road trails with its long top tube, extended head tube, and short stem.
Enhanced Off-Road Capability: The second generation features a 1.5-degree slacker head angle and larger volume tyres, making it even more capable on rugged terrain.
Versatile Design: Equipped with five sets of bottle bosses and rack mounting points for versatile luggage options. The frame also supports internal routing for dropper posts and dynamo systems.
Revised Fork Design: A new fork design allows for easy swapping to a suspension fork without altering the bike's geometry, while the updated fork and shorter head tube provide a sleeker look.
Improved Braking: All Silex models (except the 200) come with hydraulic disc brakes and 180mm rotors. The chainstay-mounted calipers use the flat-mount standard for a clean, flush fit, and carbon models feature CNC-machined aluminium Disc Cooler fins to reduce brake temperatures by up to 35% during intense riding.
- MTB-Inspired Geometry: Modern, off-road capable design.
- Carbon Fork with Tapered Steerer: Enhances durability and handling.
- Shimano GRX400 Groupset: Reliable 2x10 gearing for diverse conditions.
- Hydraulic Disc Brakes: Superior stopping power and control.
- 12mm Bolt Through Axles: Ensures robust and secure wheel attachment.
The Silex continues to embody the spirit of adventure and exploration, now with even greater off-road capability. With a recent victory by Matej Mohoric at the 2023 Gravel World Championships, it’s clear that the Merida Silex is a standout choice for gravel enthusiasts.
