The Specialized Crux DSW Cyclocross Bike is more than just the lightest alloy gravel bike ever created. Building on the knowledge gained from developing the carbon Crux, Specialized used their patented D’Aluisio Smartweld technology to bring it to life in alloy. This results in a highly capable, nimble, balanced, and responsive alloy gravel bike designed for fast, fun, high-performance riding. It’s also the lightest. Some may call it a carbon copy, but Specialized call it the Crux DSW.
Lightest Weight. Weighing in at just 1399g* for the frame, the Crux DSW is the lightest alloy gravel frame in the world. Paired with a Fact12r Crux carbon fork and a performance-focused build, the complete Crux DSW weighs 9.37kg, making it unrivaled among alloy gravel bikes.
*56cm frame in the lightest colorway. Production frames may vary.
Most Capable. With tyre clearance up to 47mm and up to 2.1” on a 650b wheel, the Crux DSW matches the capability of its carbon counterpart. The robust and lightweight alloy frame allows the Crux DSW to tackle any terrain at full speed.
Ultra-Responsive. The Crux DSW is responsive at the pedals and supple in the saddle. D’Aluisio Smartweld technology fine-tunes the alloy properties for a ride quality previously unattainable without carbon, combining it with the same performance gravel geometry and race-influenced fit as the carbon Crux. A longer reach ensures better weight distribution for quick, confident handling, while a lower stack offers a performance-oriented position. With a 72mm bottom-bracket drop, it strikes the perfect balance between agility and stability.
D’Aluisio Smartweld. Specialized's patented D’Aluisio Smartweld (DSW) process uses hydroforming to precisely match tube-to-tube joints, resulting in stronger welds and a lighter, more durable frame. This technique enables the creation of a unique single-piece downtube and bottom bracket for the Crux, reducing weight and enhancing responsiveness.
"Specialized’s Crux DSW is a simple and lightweight Gravel Bike... But don’t let the simplicity of the frame standards fool you. The Crux DSW is not some kind of throwback bike. It features modern tyre clearance... modern gravel geometry, with a longer relative reach and a slacker head tube angle paired with a shorter stem." - Bicycling.com
