The new Specialized Tarmac Road Bike is built for speed, but it’s so much more than just an aerodynamic marvel. Featuring a lightweight, Rider-First Engineered™ frame, it offers unparalleled ride quality across all sizes. Whatever your cycling ambitions, PRs, KOMs, or podium finishes, the new Tarmac is ready to help you achieve them. It’s truly one bike to rule them all.
Equipped with the new Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed group, bringing electronic shifting to a broader audience, and fast-rolling Turbo Pro 700x26mm tyres, the new Tarmac delivers high performance at an accessible price point.
While aerodynamics were crucial in the Tarmac’s development, weight was equally important in creating this optimal race bike. Traditionally, aero bikes sacrificed weight to reduce drag, but the goal with the new Tarmac was to keep it at or below the UCI weight limit without compromising aerodynamics. Utilising the FreeFoil Shape Library, isotopic FEA analysis, and expert engineering, Specialized crafted a frame that weighs just 920g, without sacrificing aero efficiency, stiffness, or ride quality.
Continuing their quest to perfect the race bike, Specialized applied their Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to make the new Tarmac the most balanced and best-handling version yet, regardless of size. Feedback from elite test riders from their World Tour Teams (Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe) guided adjustments based on thousands of kilometres on the road. This ensured balanced ride quality between the front and rear, providing comfort even on the longest rides, while retaining the Tarmac’s legendary handling and race-winning responsiveness.
Building on insights from the Venge, the new Tarmac features simple integration for a clean, fast cockpit that's user-friendly. Specialized improved routing to accommodate any configuration (mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round bars) without compromising aerodynamics. These design traits also make the new Tarmac easy to work on and travel with, offering a win-win for cyclists.
