The new Specialized Tarmac Road Bike is built for speed but it’s more than just an aerodynamic marvel. With a lightweight, Rider-First Engineered™ frame, it ensures top-tier ride quality for every size. Whatever your cycling goals (PRs, KOMs, or podium finishes) the Tarmac is ready to help you achieve them. It truly is one bike to rule them all.
Featuring the new Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed group, which brings electronic shifting to the masses, and equipped with fast-rolling Turbo Pro 700x26mm tyres, this Tarmac delivers high performance at a more accessible price point.
While aerodynamics were crucial in the Tarmac’s development, weight was equally important in creating this ultimate race bike. Traditionally, aero bikes compromised on weight, but the goal with the new Tarmac was to keep it at or below the UCI weight limit without sacrificing aerodynamics. Utilising the FreeFoil Shape Library, isotopic FEA analysis, and expert engineering, Specialized crafted a FACT 9r frame that weighs just 1010g, maintaining aero efficiency, stiffness, and ride quality.
Continuing their pursuit of the perfect race bike, Specialized applied their Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to make the new Tarmac the most balanced and best-handling version yet, regardless of size. Feedback from elite test riders from their World Tour Teams (Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe) guided adjustments based on thousands of kilometres on the road. This ensured balanced ride quality between the front and rear, providing comfort even on the longest rides while retaining the Tarmac’s legendary handling and race-winning responsiveness.
Building on insights from the Venge, the new Tarmac features simple integration for a clean, fast cockpit that's user-friendly. Specialized improved routing to accommodate any configuration (mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round bars) without compromising aerodynamics. These design features also make the new Tarmac easy to work on and travel with, offering a win-win for cyclists.
