Wolf Tooth RoadLink Derailleur Hanger - Black

Season:0

Brand:Wolf Tooth

Code:WTRlink

The Wolf Tooth RoadLink derailleur hanger extension offsets the position of your road derailleur making it possible to run a wider mountain bike cassette which is ideal if you’re looking to convert to a 1x set up with minimal fuss.

If you're looking for the simplicity of a single chainring up front or even just want lower bail-out gears on your double without changing your existing groupset or losing shifting performance and chain wrap, then the RoadLink is for you.

The RoadLink is optimised for use with 10 or 11-speed 11-36t and 11-40t cassettes, Shimano road derailleurs and is best paired with Wolf Tooth’s 40-tooth GC cassette extenders and Drop-Stop chainrings.

Compatibility

10s Cassette Compatibility:

  • 11-32: Not Required (GS medium cage rear derailleur works)
  • 11-34: Single (for double chainring be sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-36: Single (for double chainring be sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-40: Single (for double chainrings sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-42: Not supported

11s Cassette Compatibility:

  • 11-32: Not Required (GS medium cage rear derailleur works)
  • 11-34: Single (for double chainring be sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-36: Single (for double chainring be sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-40: Single (for double chainring be sure to not exceed the derailleur's capacity)
  • 11-42: Not supported
  • 10-42: Not supported

Double chainrings are only supported with GS (medium cage) rear derailleurs. You may need to change the front gearing so the capacity of the rear derailleur is not exceeded.

The RoadLink is optimised for the 10- and 11-speed Shimano road derailleur geometry. It also works very well with 9-speed road groups, all SRAM groups, and Campagnolo derailleurs with cassettes up to 11-36t.

Triple chainrings are not supported (medium cage rear derailleurs cannot accommodate that big of a range).

Direct Mount-native frames are not supported.

Due to the lack of a clutch mechanism on Shimano road derailleurs, secondary chain retention (front derailleur or chain device) may be needed, especially for rough or off-road use.

Due to variations in derailleur hanger geometry, chainstay length, chainring size, B-screw adjustment, and suspension configuration, individual results will vary.

RoadLink Installation Instructions

Now that you have one, it's time to install your RoadLink. Wolf Tooth know that it looks like a lot, but it should take less than 1/2 hour, probably a whole lot less. If you are unfamiliar with the parts or procedures listed below, please bring your bike to in to us for installation.

Before diving in, you'll need the following:

Required:

  • Protective eyewear
  • 5mm Allen key
  • Chain tool
  • Medium (#2) Phillips screwdriver
  • Grease
  • Rag

Recommended:

  • Torque wrench with 5mm Allen bit
  • Master link pliers

Procedure:

  1. Mount bicycle in workstand.
  2. Break chain and remove from derailleur
  3. Use 5mm Allen key to remove rear derailleur from derailleur hanger.
  4. Size chain:
    • Place chain on largest cog and largest chainring.
    • Add or remove links such that chain is 2 links (one inch) longer than the minimum required to accommodate big-big combination.
    • Remove chain from chainring.
  5. Use rag to clean all surfaces of derailleur and hanger.
  6. Apply a small amount of grease to RoadLink bolt threads and under RoadLink bolt head.
  7. Use 5mm Allen key or torque wrench to mount RoadLink to derailleur hanger and torque to 8-10Nm.
    • Do not use thread locking compound on RoadLink mounting bolt.
  8. Verify that RoadLink stop rests against derailleur hanger tab. If gap is present, repeat Step 7.
  9. Use 5mm Allen Key to start derailleur mounting screw in RoadLink.
  10. Use torque wrench or 5mm Allen key to torque derailleur mounting bolt to manufacturer's specification.
  11. Re-route chain through derailleurs and connect ends.
  12. Replace chain on chainring.
  13. Adjust B-limit screw by:
    • Shifting to highest cog
    • Pull rear derailleur body rearward to release pressure on B-screw.
    • Use medium Phillips screwdriver to adjust B-screw so that, when the derailleur is released, top derailleur pulley sits as close as possible to top cog without rubbing or 'rumbling' while pedaling.
  14. Adjust shifting as necessary.
  15. Go for a ride.
