And we’ve now made it even better with a wider rim that reinforces its amazing performance. Most of Garmin-Cannondale’s race wins are achieved using the Cosmic Ultimate. It’s simply the best choice on most terrain. It’s aerodynamic, thanks to its 40mm deep, 25mm wide carbon rim profile and its 20 super bladed spokes and high and thin carbon hub flanges. But it also delivers plenty of stiffness thanks to some key technical innovations: - The spokes are made of unidirectional carbon fibers that simply don’t stretch where others fail to hold the wheel together- These spokes run continuously from one edge of the rim to the other through the spokes (R2R technology) creating just one single spoke instead of two and eliminating the need for mechanically attaching the spokes to the hubs - The rear rim is asymmetrical to make for a better drive side-bracing angle, hence balancing the spoke tension to keep the wheel stiff even under the heaviest lateral loads, like sprinting or attacking out of the saddle - The rim is made of 12k carbon fibers wrapped over a super rigid foam core- And of course, it is super light, at just 1250g, thanks to a full carbon design, where very few metallic parts are usedSafety at speedBut none of these innovations compromise on safety or convenience. This wheelset will last thousands of miles and should it go out of line, the rear wheel has a unique truing system. Tires to matchFinally, it comes with our Yksion Pro Tubular tires, where front and rear tires are differentiated according to their role. The front tire uses GripLink with a tread pattern that increases water evacuation when leaning on corners. The rear tire offers minimum rolling resistance thanks to grooves on the rolling tread that release the pressure on the ground but delivers plenty of traction in the rain thanks to a side water evacuation channel.
